2 runners instead of 2 skis- tobogganing experience Naviser Hütte

It’s finally snowing again and transforming the Wipptal into a dreamlike winter landscape. We want to get out! But even in Tyrol it doesn’t always have to be 2 boards – we decide to go tobogganing with the whole family. For the first time this season, we pack our backpacks, load the toboggans into the car and set off for the beautiful Navistal.

Tyrolean natural toboggan run in Navis
Our region, nestled between the Brenner Pass and the provincial capital Innsbruck, offers 9 fantastic toboggan runs with different levels of difficulty. Even as locals, we like to use the portal www.winterrodeln.org and find out about the current snow conditions and opening hours of the runs. After a short search, we decide on the family-friendly natural toboggan run in Navis. According to the reports of tobogganing enthusiasts, the run leaves nothing to be desired after the first snowfalls and is perfectly prepared.

Nature experience for the whole family
While our daughter is already marching with her own toboggan, our youngest is still enjoying the hike in the wonderful snow-covered landscape in the baby carrier. The regular walking time for the approximately 390 metres in altitude from the Schranzberg car park to the hut takes about an hour. With consideration for the children, we take a total of three short breaks and reach our destination after about 1.5 hours of walking. Arriving at the Naviser Hütte, which was completely renovated in 2012, Carina and Martin give us a friendly welcome. Together with their team, they show concern for the well-being of their guests and also keep the toboggan run in good shape.

After our well-deserved lunch, we head down into the valley. The track is actually very well prepared and the snow has good grip, but the bends still require some athletic ability. With a little support from us adults and an adapted tobogganing speed, my daughter masters the natural toboggan run with flying colours and our little one also enjoys tobogganing. In the best of moods and with wonderful memories, we make our way home.
